  1. Latest exhibition, North York Moors

    Together with other members of Diverse Threads, I have some of my work on display at the ‘Inspired by...’ gallery in Danby until 24th September. We have interpreted the stunning setting via our ‘Threading through the Moors’ exhibition. I have a series of pieces based on animals – the one shown here is a Meadow Pipit.

  2. Exhibition at Pyramid Gallery, York

    I’m a member of York Artworkers’ Association and this year is the 25th Anniversary. To celebrate we have an exhibition of members’ work at Pyramid Gallery  on Stonegate. Up until 29th January, there’s a great range of work on display from glass artists, painters, ceramicists, jewellers etc. The photo below has details from one of my four pieces on display, inspired by ‘Little Boy Blue’.

  3. Folk Art talk in Harrogate

    Today has been most enjoyable: I delivered a talk on Folk Art to Harrogate Embroiderers’ Guild. A lovely group of people with some good questions that kept me on my toes! Below is a photo showing detail from one of my Russian folk art pieces.

  4. Exhibition at Helmsley Arts Centre

    Until Friday 2nd February, we in Diverse Threads have our ‘Regeneration’ exhibition at Helmsley Arts Centre. Check out their website as they are not open every day! I’ll be there stewarding on Sunday 28th January. The photo is of one of my 6 pieces on display in the exhibition.

  5. Christmas Fairs

    It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas! I’m part of two fairs in December: Saturday 9th at Bar Convent on Blossom Street, 10-4pm. Then the Basement at City Screen on Sunday 17th, from 10.30-4.30pm. Do call by and say hello!

  6. November Fairs

    This Sunday 12th November sees the return of the annual ‘Craft-y-Crawl’. From 12 noon to 4pm you can follow a map to visit various crafters/makers at different venues around the Bishopthorpe Rd/Southbank area. Location details can be found here: interactive map. I’ll be with 5 other makers in the Golden Ball pub on Cromwell Road. We’ll have a great range of art and craft for sale and you could treat yourself to a swift drink at the same time! Then on the weekend of 18th/19th November I’m in Pen 48 at ‘Crafts in the Pen‘ in Skipton. A huge array of different makers will be there from all over Yorkshire and Lancashire. Come and feast your eyes!

  7. Workshops in York: vintage Christmas stocking

    Come and spend a relaxing day making a festive stocking from some beautiful vintage fabrics and haberdashery. I’ll provide the template and fabrics and give you some tips on different stitches you could use. There are two dates: Saturday 25th November or Friday 1st December.     Looking forward to this Thursday 2nd November when I’ll be part of the Pop-Up activities at Ethel Ward playing field in Haxby, 10am to 12 noon. We’ll be playing with autumn leaves and animal figures to create a mobile!

  9. Workshops in York: Preloved Applique

    Come and spend a relaxing day learning how to do basic quilting and applique by hand. We’ll be using lots of recycled fabrics and, depending on how quick you are with a needle, you could make and take home some washable coasters, a mobile phone pouch or an iPad cover. Dates: 14th and 18th October from 10am to 4pm. Venues: in the workshop space at Olive’s Nest on Scarcroft Rd on 14th Oct, and in the upstairs workroom at Me & Mrs Fisher (cafe) on Lord Mayor’s Walk – a delicious lunch and refreshments included in the day.   10. Keepsake Art event & workshops

    As part of the 50+ Festival, I’m running a free introductory session about Keepsake Art on Sat 30th September. From 10-11am I’ll talk about how you can take precious items such as photos and letters that are hidden away and turn them into art. Bring along any items you’d like us to look at together. Commissions undertaken. Venue: Briar House, Club Chambers, Museum St, York YO1 7DN. There’ll be other sessions there, too, following on from mine giving you information about the work of humanist celebrants, soul midwives, sorting out your home and talking about bereavement. There’s also cake on offer!

    Then on Thursday 5th October I’m running a full day’s workshop where you can create your own artwork. For further details email me: sarah@winifredtaylor.co.uk.
