  1. Joint exhibition

    May 13, 2015 by Sarah

I have a joint exhibition ‘Folk Threads’ with Kate Fenton at The Golden Ball which opens on Saturday 23rd May and runs until 24th July. Come along and see what you think – view the exhibition in the Garden Room when the pub is open! A lot of my pieces have been inspired by Russian and Eastern European folk art; I also have a number of Japanese inspired pieces.

  2. Festive markets and fairs!

    November 27, 2014 by Sarah

Stuck for gift ideas? Don’t worry, there are lots of fairs taking place across York where you can buy some beautiful hand-crafted items! This Saturday 29th November I have a stall at the ‘Annual Christmas Market’ at the Golden Ball pub in York, 11am to 4pm – come along to see all the different wares on display from local makers. Then on Saturday 6th December it’s a ‘Handmade and Vintage Christmas Market’ in The Basement at City Screen, again from 11am to 4pm. Pop along to my stall and say hello!

  3. Latest exhibition piece

    February 20, 2014 by Sarah

I’ve been working on a piece inspired by Japanese boro textiles. Using recycled fabrics and threads, I’ve rusted them first and then dyed them in indigo. I’ve then stitched into the marks and stains using a variety of threads.

This is part of the new exhibition by the Open Art Collective entitled ‘Continuum’ at the Golden Ball pub in York – the Preview is this evening.

  4. Exhibition in the local pub!

    October 22, 2013 by Sarah

Last Thursday there was a Preview of an exhibition by the Open Art Surgery collective. This is a group of local artists – of which I’m one – and we responded to the theme of ‘Your Place in Space’. The exhibition is in the Garden Room at the Golden Ball pub in Bishophill, York and runs for 6 weeks www.goldenballyork.co.uk

I have one piece in the exhibition entitled ‘Enclosure’ which is inspired by nests and hibernation. This was a new venture for me to try and create a 3D piece in a box frame using recycled fabric, paper and thread.
